Channel DSTU 3436-96; (GOST 8240-97)
An important part of any building structure is a channel – a metal profile that has a P or U-like shape. Production at the factory is carried out by the method of hot rolling, most often from steel grade 3 ps/sp. This standard applies to channels with parallel faces (CHANNEL P) and with inclined shelf faces (CHANNEL U). The channel is used to add rigidity and stability to structures, and also works well for bending and accepts longitudinal loads. Due to this, the strength increases, and the weight of the structure as a whole decreases. The channel is used in the construction of residential and industrial buildings and structures, private and country houses, frames of metal structures, bridges, trusses, beams, columns, stairs, fences and fences.

Steel channels with parallel faces (P channel) and with inclined shelf faces (U channel) are delivered in accordance with GOST 8240. UPE and UPN channels are delivered in accordance with EN 10025-2/2004. Each type has its own characteristics and characteristics, which is decisive for the field of their application.
The most common type is a steel bent channel, the main purpose of which is to redistribute the load. The standard height of finished products is from 50 to 400 mm, the width of the shelves is from 32 to 115 mm.
